Premier Steven Marshall announces $4 million for the Great State travel voucher scheme, part of a significant tourism stimulus package to further boost the visitor economy.

The Great State vouchers will be offered to South Australians to use towards accommodation across the state.

Through the State Government, the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) will provide $100 vouchers for use at participating CBD hotels, and $50 vouchers to spend in regional and suburban accommodation. The program is available for all South Australians over the age of 18, and excludes Saturday night stays – which we know are quicker to fill up with intrastate visitors.

Over the last week, the SATC has been reaching out to accommodation providers to seek their interest in signing up to the deal. There has been over 100 accommodation providers already signed up to be part of the deal, from luxury 5-star hotels in the city to cabins in caravan parks across the regions. Some of these include the Adelaide Oval Hotel, Crowne Plaza, Mayfair Hotel, Hilton Adelaide and the Middleton Beach Huts.

Great State vouchers will be available from 9.00am on Thursday 15 October 2020 until 11.59pm Saturday 31 October or until the allocation is exhausted. Consumers can book their stay from Thursday 15 October to 11 December 2020 inclusive.

This will be a great boost to many operators, particularly those CBD hotels who have seen a significant decrease in overnight stays without the usual international visitation and corporate travel from the eastern states.

The vouchers are a timely reward for South Australians who’ve done a fantastic job getting behind the state’s regional tourism industry.
