The State Government via the South Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) has allocated an additional $2 million in funding to extend the phenomenally successful Regional Leadership Development Program, fostering future leaders in regional South Australia.
The program is delivered through Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula (RDAEP) and is facilitated to fill the gaps in leadership training. This program meets the specific needs of our community, while also reducing participant travel and increasing accessibility for previously under-represented leadership cohorts such as women and local First Nations participants.
In 2023, 25 participants from Eyre Peninsula completed the 10-month program. In 2024, RDAEP continued the delivery of the program with 32 graduating from the program in early 2025. The program has resulted in many participants either taking up roles on community boards or committees or increasing their commitments on these bodies.
The program has been funded for the 2 years 2026 – 2028, thanks to a grant from PIRSA. The program will commence its development phase in July 2026, which will include a gap analysis of leadership needs in the region. The actual program is expected to be delivered in 2027.
