The Malka Aboriginal Art Prize exhibition is now open for entries!

Indigenous artists from the Mid North, Spencer Gulf, Flinders Ranges and Outback, Eyre Peninsula, and Far West regions of South Australia are invited to submit an entry.

Prize categories are:

  • 1st Prize
  • 2nd Prize
  • 3rd Prize
  • People’s Choice Award
  • Young Artist Award (best judged entry by an entrant under 30 years of age)
  • Marvyn McKenzie Snr Award (best entry from a Port Augusta or Northern Flinders Ranges based artist)

Total prize money will be determined once sponsorship is finalised, however it will be in excess of $2,000.

Judging is carried out by 3 independent judges.  This is a fair and independent judging process.

The criteria considered when judging artworks are:

  • Creativity and style
  • Technique and proficiency
  • Presentation.

Entries close Friday, 15 June at 4pm

Judges will be announced in early June, 2018.  The winners of the Malka Aboriginal Art Prize will be announced during NAIDOC Week.

The exhibition will be on display from the 25th June to 28th July, 2018 at the Port Augusta Cultural Centre – Yarta Purtli and judging will occur during NAIDOC Week in July.
