On 21 October 2018, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, the Hon Michael McCormack MP, announced that 16 projects will progress to Stage Two of the Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
The Department received 337 Initial Applications for RGF funding and after conducting a rigorous assessment process, the Government recommended a total of $271.7 million in funding for transformational projects that support long-term economic growth and create jobs in regional areas.
The selected projects are spread across regional Australia, with two projects located in South Australia.
Congratulations to FREE Eyre Limited who have now been invited to submit a Full Business Case to construct Port Spencer Deep Sea Wharf on the east coast of Eyre Peninsula.
The new port, capable of handling multiple commodities, will drive economic growth and create jobs. The port will consist of a 620 metre wharf capable of loading Panamax sized vessels and will include construction of a ship-loader and multi-commodity conveyor system silos, sheds and bunkers.

A number of applicants sought advice from their local RDA. Regional Programs Branch have thanked RDA’s for their invaluable advice that was provided to potential applicants of not only the RGF, but also the many Regional Programs that are offered through the Department.
