Driver’s Licence Learner’s Permit

August 23, 2022August 25, 2022

The Aboriginal Access Centre in Port Lincoln are happy to announce the next training dates for the 3 day Driver’s Licence Learner’s permit short course.

The course is $130.00 per person or fee FREE for ATSI participants.

Students will be given an opportunity to sit the Learner’s Permit test when student and Lecturer feels they are ready. There is no additional fee to sit the test.

Upon passing the course, Students will be given signed paperwork to take to Service SA, at which time they will be able to complete the “Application for Learner’s permit”, pay their application fee and have their photo taken.

Please be aware that students will need to produce the original ID documents to Service SA staff at this point.

Places in the course will not be confirmed until original ID documents have been checked and copied by staff at the Pt Lincoln Campus. Original documents must also be brought to the first day of class.

Because we deliver the Learner’s permit test at the end of the class, we are required to follow the Service SA rules.

All ID documents must be originals and cannot be emailed/ scanned/faxed.

Please be aware when collating ID, that documents must include a current address and signature from each student. (A proof of enrolment letter from School covers both requirements)

If students cannot collate the correct ID as per Service SA requirements, they are still able to attend the course at TAFESA and complete the learning, however they will not be permitted to sit the test at the completion of the course. In this case, once ID can be confirmed, students will need to attend Service SA to sit the Learner’s Permit test.  Original ID documents will need to be checked by Service SA staff.

Please make sure that the parent or guardian section of the TAFESA registration form is signed if students are under 18.

The best ID documents for school age kids are:

1 from Group A – Birth certificate

2 from Group B –  Medicare card – this can belong to the parents or student

Or

School  Proof of enrolment letter, with home address and student signature

(school ID cards are no good because they have the school address on them)

   Or

Current credit or debit card with student name embossed

(this will cover the signature requirement)

                                             Or

Health Care card/ concession card – this can belong to the parents or student, but

the address must match all other documents.

(This will cover the address requirement)

Please note, all registrations for this course must be done manually (not online).
