The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) is developing a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) or cost/benefit analysis into the possible inclusion of minimum necessary accessibility requirements for housing in the National Construction Code (NCC). These housing features should improve use by people either with disability or illness or transitioning through their life stages.

The Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement will be released in early April 2020 and will seek public comment. The design of homes is critical to our wellbeing, whether we are working, looking after vulnerable people or trying to manage when we are unwell.
