RDAWEP, in collaboration with Streaky Bay Tourism and with the support of Local Government and tourism partners, facilitated a stand at this year’s Let’s Go Caravan and Camping Show.
Just under 30,000 people attended the show at Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide and the Eyre Peninsula and Streaky Bay stand directly engaged with approx. 1,500 potential visitors to our region. Volunteers noted that many visitors to the stand regarded a visit to Eyre Peninsula as a wow or ‘must do’ experience.
The Let’s Go Caravan and Camping show is jam-packed with all the latest and greatest products, services and destinations in this industry, showcased by over 100 exhibitors.
A big thank you to the people from Streaky Bay VIC, Whyalla VIC, Port Lincoln VIC, Elliston Waterloo Bay Tourist Park, Doi’s Ocean Front Apartments, and Streaky Bay Marine Products for volunteering their time to promote our region. Extra thanks to Streaky Bay Marine Products for their popular prawn tasters!
Two competitions were run for the duration of the show; an online survey and a #streakybay Instagram competition. Generous sponsors provided two great accommodation packages with lots of support products and services. Streaky Bay Tourism and RDAWEP acknowledges the generosity of: The Streaky Bay Motel, Dois Ocean Apartments, Streaky Bay Marine Products, Streaky Surf, Bayfunktion, Beck Bros IGA and, the VISIBLE event through artists Leah King and Lauren Karp.
RDAWEP has identified the caravan and camping market as a key priority for the region and is raising awareness of Eyre Peninsula as a desirable caravan and camping destination.
Tourism Australia predicts that caravan and camping will be the main growth in accommodation to 2020. RDAWEP is planning for the future of this market and ensuring that we have the systems in place to accommodate growth.
