The Whyalla City Council is seeking a highly motivated individual ready to take on a challenge to be become an integral member of the Infrastructure Operations team to drive the Civil and Maintenance operations of the Council

About the role:

As the Civil / Maintenance Coordinator you will lead the development and implementation of Council’s Civil and Maintenance works program, which incorporates civil construction works, waste collection, mechanical maintenance and street sweeping functions.

The successful candidate will manage and supervise the Civil and Maintenance teams and have a key focus on promoting and supporting workplace change and culture, including the review of workplace practices. You will be responsible for ensuring that all work is planned and carried out safely, on time, to the required standards and within budget.

We are looking for a leader who has:

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience managing diverse teams
  • A passion for leading, developing and motivating employees to achieve excellence and driving a positive and safety focused culture
  • A committed approach to continuous improvement and thrives as a self starter with strong problem-solving skills to propose improved ways of working
  • A strong focus on safety and a working knowledge and understanding of the WHS and Risk Management legislation within a diverse setting
  • The ability to develop strong partnerships with stakeholders and influence through consultation, negotiation and engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • Good time management skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced diverse environment, managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines and achieving targets
  • Excellent computer/technology skills and is proficient in the use of Microsoft suite of products
  • Ideally has previous experience in working in a civil construction and maintenance environment

The salary applicable for this role is in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers’ Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement, paid at Level 6 which currently ranges from $96,217 to $102,824 per annum. This is a five (5) year contract role.
