The Portfolio Nurse – Drugs and Therapeutics provides nursing and/or midwifery services in health service settings.   The nurse working within this level develop from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. They accept accountability for his or her own standards of nursing/midwifery care and for activities delegated to others.

The Portfolio Nurse will provide specific support to the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN) Clinical Governance Committee Chair and relevant Standard Lead(s) to interpret data and make recommendations and develop and implement quality and safety improvement initiatives.  He/she will report directly to the EFNLHN Quality Risk Safety (QRS) Manager and will work closely with the EFNLHN QRS team and relevant Governance Committee members.  In the course of fulfilling this role, the Clinical Nurse RN1/ Portfolio Nurse will initiate staff training/ education and initiatives to improve compliance with the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Services (NSQHS) Standards and Aged Care Quality Standards.

The Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C) role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan.

The successful applicant will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with a demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.  The RN/M2C Clinical Nurse will be required to have at least 3 years or full time equivalent post registration experience.

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a RN/M1 or RN/M2C, and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.

This is a part time vacancy, working 16 hours per fortnight over 5 day roster and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.  In addition to the annual salary package, we also offer salary sacrifice benefits, employer superannuation contributions and leave loading.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.  COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Public Health Act 2011 (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) to work in SA Health/health care setting.
