The Clinical Nurse/Midwife will provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients within the Emergency Department of the Port Lincoln Hospital.  He/she accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced employees.

Within this role the Clinical Nurse/Midwife will be expected to deal appropriately and relevantly with patients and their families where there are multiple complexities, diverse cultural backgrounds and expectations of clients.  While the Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities will be negotiated and be consistent with the career development plan for the incumbent as determined by their performance review/development plan.  He/she assists the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager and Nurse/Midwife Educators to maintain a learning culture by being a resource person, encouraging reflection and professional development, and assisting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning.

The incumbent will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate or registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.  He/she must have at least 3 years contemporary experience in an Emergency Department with a demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.  Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses also required.

This is a part time vacancy, working 32 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.  In addition to the annual salary package, we also offer salary sacrifice benefits, employer superannuation contributions and leave loading.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.  COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Public Health Act 2011 (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) to work in SA Health/health care setting.
