About the role

The primary objective of this key leadership role is to lead the Coke Ovens Operations Team in achieving measurable best practice production across safety, production, cost effectiveness, sustainability, and people management in a rolling 6-12-month timeframe.

Accountable for team culture and a manager of direct reports, your key responsibilities will include:

  • The performance of every direct report in keeping with the pursuit of excellence
  • Creating and maintaining an effective team in order to execute the deliverable targets
  • Coaching and mentoring staff for succession planning, career development and empowering decision making with your support and in your absence
  • Active participation within the Coke Ovens leadership team
  • Accountability to ensure the physical, emotional, and physiological safety of the Coke Ovens employees
  • Creating and maintaining a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture and sustainable environment
  • Conducting regular safety interactions, planned task observations, and audits with all supervisors and team leaders
  • Developing, implementing and continuously improving the procedures and operating instruction
  • Collaborating with the Maintenance Team to deliver both the weekly plans and planned shutdown
  • Preparing, managing and reviewing operating budgets for Coke Ovens production processes as well as monitor against monthly cost drivers
  • Maintaining customer relationships and both internal and external service agreements

About your experience

With your demonstrated capability to create clarity and focus for your direct reports, you will have a passion for outcomes.

Driven by accountability for the performance of others, you will bring to this role:

  • Previous experience leading operations in an industrial processing environment
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent
  • Leading and driving a high functioning team with a strong continuous improvement focus
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and scenario planning, commercial analysis and budget preparation and management
  • Strong sense of confidentiality, integrity and driving company core values and best practice
  • Solutions focused when faced with operational challenges
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and succession planning teams
  • Strong proficiency with IT including SAP and other TQM tools
