Vocational Worker – headspace Port Lincoln – Full Time

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

About the role:

The Vocational Worker will provide vocational services to young people who are referred for employment and education support as part of their care at headspace Port Lincoln. This is aligned with the International model of supported employment: ‘Individual Placement & Support’ (IPS).

The Vocational Worker will work in conjunction with headspace staff to support young people to gain employment or to engage  in education. They will liaise with local employers, training agencies and education providers to create opportunities for young people. The overall aims of vocational support for young people seen is  to minimise the impact of their mental health issue and to enable recovery through getting into study or work.


  • Formal qualifications in vocational services, employment services, career development, community services, education or youth work is desirable.
  • A demonstrated level of skill and experience with working with young people (12-25 years) and families is desirable, however not necessary.
  • Youth Worker experience or experience in employment services
  • National Police Check
  • Department of Human Services Child-Related Employment Screening
