About the client

Our client are a diversified engineering and fabrication company with a track record of completing major industrial projects in the Defence, Energy and Infrastructure sectors. They are currently seeking 2 x experienced Welding Supervisors for their sites in the North of Adelaide, and at Whyalla.

About the role

  • Manage all workshop activities via workshop supervision, leading hands and employees
  • Ensure fabrication activities are conducted within budget and on time
  • Provide reports as required by Project Managers and Operations Manager
  • Drive productivity and efficiency initiatives in the Workshops
  • Ensure that all stakeholders are regularly updated on progress and informed of any potential delays
  • Ensure that all team members comply with Company and State/Federal safety procedures and legislation
  • Ensure that team members are working in a safe manner and that there are safe systems of work
  • Provide support and/or assistance to Leading Hands and personnel with respect to Workshop Safety
  • Utilise all skills, knowledge and experience of team members
  • Maintain an industry acceptable standard of competency in welding skill and ability, specifically meet the coding requirements of Australian Standards
  • Review fabrication drawing and associated traceability documentation including weld maps and weld logs, and liaise with workshop leading hands
  • Maintain company welder traceability databases and records on welded workshop fabrications and onsite welding
  • On-the-job training of company QA/QC systems used in workshop

Key requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience on construction sites/workshops and experience in a supervisory role
  • Certificate 10 in Welding Supervision or equivalent
  • CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 qualification of equivalent is highly desirable
  • Relevant tradesman qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the various welding styles and consumables required for different materials and procedures
  • Read, interpret and understand weld procedures as per the various industry-recognised welding standards
  • Understand various material codes and associated weld properties which go with them
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001-2015 and associated quality standards
  • Experience in report generation
