The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation Board has recently awarded Tertiary Scholarships of $2,000 each to Sophie Traeger and Marli Ryan. The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation Board congratulates the recipients and wishes them well with their studies. The EPCF established the Education Fund in 2016, and has received applications from all areas of the Eyre Peninsula.

The funds are to assist with the costs of books and other resources needed for establishment away from home.

Foundation Chair Garry Downey states, “The Foundation is proud to assist our Eyre Peninsula students aspire to higher education away from the Eyre Peninsula and in time return here to apply their learning and strengthen our regional communities. The EPCF Education Fund supports our regional students getting to university through philanthropic and community donations held solely for this purpose.”

Sophie Traeger is from Port Lincoln and attended St Joseph’s Port Lincoln, and is now studying a Double Degree – Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) and Science at University of Adelaide. Marli Ryan is from Elliston and also attended St Joseph’s Port Lincoln, and is now studying a Honours Degree – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at University of South Australia.
