Applications for the National Australia Day Council’s (NADC) Australia Day 2022 Community Events Grants program are now open,  for you to apply for up to $30,000 to deliver an event that gives your community the opportunity to reflect, respect and celebrate on Australia Day.

Australia’s local government and community sectors play a vital role in Australia Day, delivering hundreds of events from Welcomes to Country to citizenship ceremonies, from morning teas to multicultural festivals.

The NADC and Department of Home Affairs are proud to support this important work. In 2022, the NADC – with the support of the Federal Government – will provide $7.5 million to fund local Australia Day events.

Australia Day event hosts can apply for up to $20,000 to deliver events that use the National Australia Day Council’s ‘Reflect. Respect. Celebrate. We’re all part of the story.’ branding. Applicants that collaborate with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to incorporate activities that reflect and respect the history of local indigenous people and celebrate their culture will be eligible to apply for an additional $10,000.

Applicants will need to detail how they plan to display Australia Day-branded ‘Reflect. Respect. Celebrate. We’re all part of the story.’ promotional material and collateral. They will also need to provide information on how the event will comply with the state’s COVIDSafe regulations and have contingency plans should public health restrictions prevent in-person events on Australia Day 2022.

Applications close at 5pm AEST on 19 November 2021. To learn more or to apply for a grant, visit www.australiaday.smartygrants.com.au.

To support applicants and grant recipients, the NADC will host a series of briefing sessions and webinars, commencing with an introductory briefing session at 2pm AEST Wednesday 3 November 2021 (to attend the briefing, Click here).
